Science/On Campus Life/Memories:
This article talks about NAU’s plan to demolish Peterson Hall to make way for a new STEM building. As a former occupant of Peterson (one of the last ones), I’m sorry to see it go, but it’s for a good cause.
This article talks about NAU’s MakerLab being open to the public. Hooray for Science (and 3D printing!)!
On Campus/Off Campus Life:
Las Vegas – Words cannot express how horrible this is. The mother of one of our fellow Lumberjacks was one of the victims:
Tom Petty passed away earlier this week. You’re on your own finding links to that one, though.
If you’re away from Flagstaff (like yours truly) take a look at the above article. You can find NAU Football and Basketball games for free with the TuneIn app. Go Jacks!!!
Football (2-2, 2-0):
NAU Head football coach Jerome Sours is retiring after the end of this season. The announcement was made on Tuesday to ensure that the university and the community had an opportunity the thank coach Sours over the remainder of the season. Coach Sours is the winningest coach in Big Sky history (114 wins (78 Conf. wins) and counting). I remember playing football in Arizona in the late 90’s and Coach Sours visiting our practice. We didn’t talk or anything, but when I saw this article it did remind me of that time and how, for most recent NAU grads, they’ve never known an NAU football program without Coach Sours. We wish you the best Coach, and thank you for all the great memories you’ve given us. You truly are a Lumberjack Legend!
2 days until NAU defends the Skydome against Illinois State and tries to keep their winning streak (2 wins) going! This will be the Hall of Fame game during Family Weekend! Go Jacks!!!
Women’s Soccer (8-5-0, 3-1):
The Lady Jacks did better at home, beating both Northern Colorado and North Dakota 1-0 in Flagstaff. Tomorrow, they hit the road to take on the Portland State and then Montana on Sunday. Go Jacks!!!
Volleyball (6-9, 2-2):
The Lady Jacks split their last two games, beating Idaho State 3-0, but losing to Weber State 0-3). Up next, the Lady Jacks will return home to take on Eastern Washington (today) and Idaho (Saturday) in Flagstaff. Go Jacks!!!!
